Devolution and Local Government Reorganisation

Over the next few years Devolution and Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) will be at the centre of many local authorities' activities, but also an area where procurement has a key role to play.  LGR should be used to continue to drive change in procurement and to put the new authorities created by LGR in the best place possible - it is not a reason to delay decisions or change.

Procurement Officers have the opportunity to make an important input into the process. They have expertise in many of the areas that will be used by Government to assess the most appropriate structures and solutions. The overlap with LGR covers

 - developing simpler and more sustainable service delivery structures

 - delivering better service outcomes, taking into account costs and benefits

 - delivering efficiencies to demonstrate value for money and improve council finances

During this forum Local Partnerships will share ideas and facilitate discussion on how procurement officers can take advantage of this opportunity - working with colleagues in their own authority and with others in partner councils.
